This is a visual guidance on the steps outlined below.

Set up your Teacher Profile

  1. On the top navigation bar, click on your profile photo, and click on “Edit Profile”.
  2. Add a profile photo. Fill in your name, timezone, location, bio and anything else you’d like. This is important to make the interactions in our community more welcoming and friendly.
  3. For your headline, please write “Banyan Teacher” so that members and other teachers can understand that you are a teacher.
  4. Scroll down to the Permissions, and decide if you’d like to prevent receiving direct messages, and if you’d like to appear on the Member Directory. I’ll explain these more below.

Explore the Community Posts

  1. On the left navigation bar, click on “Community Posts”. Here, you can like posts, comment on them, and create new posts.

  2. This is a moderated space to connect, learn and practice outside of sessions, and our community guidelines apply here too.

  3. You can review the pinned posts on the top right, which we change every few days, to see some of the recent or popular conversations.

  4. As you get started, go ahead and find the post that says “New here? Introduce yourself!” under pinned posts, and introduce yourself as a comment under this post.

  5. Whenever you like, start a new post. Remember that these posts will be visible to everyone in the Community Posts.

👉 Examples of what you can post on the Community Posts as a Banyan teacher:

    1. Share an invite to your upcoming Banyan session or group to increase attendance
    2. Share an invite to your upcoming session, group, or work outside of Banyan
    3. Allow the community members to get to know you personally.
    4. Create conversations in the community that address the opportunities or issues you see in your sessions.

Explore the Member/Teacher Directory

  1. On the left navigation bar, click on “Members”. Here you will see our members across our different memberships and courses. Not all of them are here for the Banyan community like you; some of them joined our other courses. Please note that as a Teacher you will appear here too.
  2. The member directory can help you find a member or teacher you might have met in a live Banyan session.
  3. You can click on a member/teacher to get more information about them.
  4. Remember that you can disable appearing on the Member Directory under your Profile Permissions.

Explore direct messages (1:1 and group)

  1. There are two ways to send a direct message to another member or teacher:

    1. From a member’s profile, click on the “Message” icon on the top right, and send them a private message.
    2. From the the top navigation bar, click on “Direct Messages”, and click on the “+” button for a New Message. Type the member’s name to send them a private message.
  2. You can also send group messages. On the New Message screen, type all the names of the members you’d like to message. This will create a private group messaging between all of you.

👉 Examples of what you send as direct messages:

    1. Follow up with members that came into your session or group; share a resource or information they needed, or thank them for the interaction
    2. Connect with other Banyan teachers; share know-how, resources or experiences
